Our mission

Built to promote badminton in Preston — properly.

  • Promote and develop participation in badminton across Preston and the surrounding area, for every level.
  • Run training sessions, leagues and competitions in a structured, transparent way.
  • Offer a clear, progressive pathway from a beginner's first session through to competitive performance.
  • Put equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding at the centre of everything the Club runs.
  • Reinvest every surplus straight back into the Club — nothing is paid out to members.

Preston United Badminton Club

Preston United BC's story started with Preston Club, running since before 2015. Preston Badminton League launched in 2025, and on 11 February 2026 the two came together under Preston United Badminton Club once it outgrew being a single league.

The Club is run by a small group of local organisers who keep things fair, keep the fixtures and rankings honest, and look after player welfare and safeguarding.

Every programme below — Preston Club, Preston Badminton League and Preston Premier Badminton Club — is part of the same Preston United BC family and plays by the same standards of conduct and safeguarding.

The structure

Three programmes. One club, one standard.

Wherever you start, you're part of the same club — and there's a merit‑based route from your first casual game through to the Club's top squad.

Preston Club

PSC is the easiest way into the Club — regular, casual doubles games with no pressure and no ranking on the line. It's where new players get comfortable, and where established players get an extra hit any day of the week.

  • FormatCasual doubles, mixed standards, partners rotate through the session
  • FrequencyDaily — a session runs every day, not just once a week
  • Venue & timeVaries day to day — posted in the PSC WhatsApp group, not fixed
  • Who's it forAnyone — beginners through to intermediate players wanting regular games
Today's court, time and venue are shared in the PSC WhatsApp group each day — join the group or get in touch before you come down, rather than expecting a fixed slot.

Selected performance squad

Preston Premier Badminton Club

PPBC is Preston United BC's top squad — a small, invitation‑only group drawn from Preston Badminton League on merit. There's no application form: the organisers spot and invite players directly.

How selection works

Invitations are decided by the organisers, taking into account:

  • League performance and ranking in Preston Badminton League
  • Behavioural compliance with the Club's Code of Conduct
  • Attendance and commitment shown over a season
  • Integrity and fit with the Club's values

Where it stands

PPBC sits at the top of the Preston United BC pathway, above PBL. The clearest way to be considered is to play a full PBL season and be visible on the league table — everything else follows from that.

Welfare & fair play

Safe, fair, and well run.

Preston United BC operates under a full Constitution, and every programme — PSC, PBL and PPBC — is covered by the same policies.

Safeguarding & welfare

The Club is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all participants, with a named Safeguarding Officer as first point of contact for any concern.

Data protection

Personal data is handled under UK GDPR and the Club's Data Protection & Privacy Policy — collected only for membership, safeguarding, league management and communication.

Fair play

Fixtures, scoring and rankings are kept transparent and consistent for every player, every week.
